A proposed ash dump in Franklin CT has stirred up debate -- the con side says that the landfill would be dangerously close to a pristine natural area [which] sits atop a local aquifer ... and adjoins the banks of the Shetucket River, which supplies drinking water to the nearby town of Sprague." The pro side says "the DEP requires an ash landfill to be above an aquifer [?], adjacent to a Class B stream or river and far from any source of public drinking water so that any unexpected leaks would be CARRIED SAFELY AWAY [my emphasis] [?].

Hello there, Susan! It's Steve from Habitat. I had no idea Tyler and I were building with a public radio and folk music icon. :) I went to look up your photo exhibition (it looks beautiful...hoping to go see it) and I immediately recognized your name. I used to do a show at WWUH and have been involved in area radio since the 90's, so your name was quite familiar. Anyway, it was great working with you and hopefully, we'll meet up again on some Habitat project. Take care!

Nice to hear from you, Steve. I haven't been able to find any info about any forthcoming H for H builds, but look forward to another one.

Icon, eh? Did I LOOK like an icon in the mud and sawdust? Ha.

In hindsight, I guess you did look like an icon, given folk's tradition of grassroots social justice. I imagine if Habitat had existed in his time, Woody Guthrie would have been slogging through the mud just like us.

Hi again, Steve, I responded on YOUR blog too -- I heard back from H for H, saying a new project will start in June and to keep checking back on their website.

Maybe our little team can reassemble and assemble!

Wild that you're a radio-person too -- I guess we have to develop a secret handshake.

The photo-show, alas, is down, not to raise its head again until next January at UConn.
